Amara Raja Batteries to set up third manufacturing facility in Chittoor

Amara Raja Batteries is planning to set up its third manufacturing plant in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. The project involves setting up of automotive battery unit with an investment of ₹ 7,000 million. The new plant will have a capacity of 6.5 million units per annum.

As of October 2018, foundation stone for the project has been laid.

The company plans to scale up capacity in the new plant to 10.8 million units in phases to make it one of the largest such facilities in the country. It has also recently signed up an agreement with its long-time partner Johnson Controls to introduce advanced battery technologies to India.
