AP government plans Bhavanapadu non major sea port

Andhra Pradesh government is planning to develop a non major sea port in Bhavanapadu in Srikakulam district of the state. The government has awarded the project development contract to Tata Consulting Engineers, while the detailed project report (DPR) was prepared by RITES Ltd. The project cost is estimated at ₹ 37,000 million.

The project involves setting up of a general cargo berth and a bulk cargo terminal.

It may be noted that, the state government has also proposed a greenfield airport in Bhavanapadu in 2010.

As of July 2020, the project has received the state cabinet approval and is expected to be completed by 2024.
